Children from primary schools across Rhyl successfully completed the Elite Triathlon at Rhyl’s Marine Lake on Friday 27th September.
Local school children, from Ysgol Llywelyn, Ysgol Y Castell, Christchurch School, Ysgol Emmanuel, Ysgol Esgob Morgan, and Ysgol Bryn Hedydd swam, ran and rode their bikes, in the event that was attended by almost a hundred primary school children from the local area.
The Elite Triathlon, organised by Mari Gaskell, Head Teacher from Ysgol Llywellyn, her team and P&A Group from Mold, was originally set up 5 years ago ahead of P&A’s Managing Director Steve Morgan and Woodworks Timber Buildings Manager John Vaughan’s first Iron Man Triathlon.
Commenting at the event, Steve Morgan said:
“This is the fifth consecutive Elite Triathlon that we have supported. When the event started in 2014, we visited schools to talk to the children about sports and fitness, something that we are very passionate about at P&A. Community support is something we are delighted to do at P&A and this is another event where we have been closely involved and are proud to sponsor the medals and some refreshments”
Steve Morgan was there to help and encourage the children and came dressed for the occasion in full wet suit and goggles. The Mayor of Rhyl, Ellie Chard, congratulated all the ‘Finishers’ and presented the medals.
Part of the money raised at the event will be donated to P&A 2019 annual charity, Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith. The children’s hospices provide care and support to children and young people with serious illnesses and life limiting conditions, and their families, from Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales.
