Repair, Reuse, Recycle
Our Pallets & Packaging division provides a repair & recycling operation to customers meaning that pallets are given a new lease of life every time they come back into our repair hub, extending the life of a pallet to six or seven trips.
Once the pallets are beyond repair they are stripped back for components for our Treesaver pallets or turned into biomass fuel.
Not only does this contribute to a reduced carbon footprint for our customers which they are delighted about, it reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and contributes to the circular economy.
Our Initiatives
Biomass
We have eliminated fossil fuels for our heating needs by installing biomass (wood chip) boilers in all our premises, fuelled by scrap wood arising from our pallets business.
Electric Fleet
Recognising the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we are committed to converting all forklift trucks to electric and all of our fleet vehicles by 2030.
Renewable Energy
We aim to reduce grid dependency through solar power. The majority of south facing roof space have solar panels installed and we source additional energy from green energy suppliers.
Waste Reduction
We promote recycling, composting, and waste
minimisation programs including pallet repair and recycling and production of
pallets made from recycled pallet timber.
Giving Back to Nature
P&A Group is a member of the North Wales Wildlife Trust (NWWT), a charity dedicated to the protection and restoration of the natural world for the benefit of both people and wildlife.
Since 2022, employees of P&A have worked together with NWWT on several initiatives focused on nurturing woodland habitats. One initiative is the Woodlands for Water Project which restores wooded habitats within the Alun and Chwiler river catchments.
By planting new woodlands within the catchment, wildlife has a better chance to move through the landscape and the scheme improved water resource management on the farm at the same time.
