Representatives from the award-winning P&A Group Of Companies in Mold have so far raised over £3,000 for Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in Iron Man Wales. Steve Morgan and John Vaughan, together with Rob Boyns of Boyns.net Ruthin, took on the gruelling challenge to raise funds for this essential cause.
Customers, friends and well-wishers have helped raise this impressive sum by donating via the company’s Just Giving page (www.justgiving.com/P-A-Fencing-and-Sheds-Ltd3). Commenting on the amount raised, P&A Group Managing Director Steve Morgan said, “I am delighted we have managed to raise over £3,000 for Alzheimer’s Society. We thank all our customers, suppliers and friends for their continued support. Of course we would like to do more and increase this total by the end of the year! I hope our efforts at successfully completing Iron Man Wales will inspire more people to donate to this valuable charity.”
Iron Man Wales is considered to be one of the toughest distance triathlons in the world. Steve, John and Rob completed a 2.4 mile sea swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run in under fifteen hours! Rob finished in 12:34:12, whilst Steve and John crossed the finish line together in 14:53:02.
The P&A Group selects a different charity to champion each year. Alzheimer’s Society was a popular choice amongst employees who have known someone affected by dementia. With an office in Mold, Alzheimer’s Society works tirelessly to support people throughout the area. In addition to fundraising, the P&A Group has been helping to raise awareness of the support available for local people coping with the condition. Woodworks Café, located in P&A Garden Centre, has collaborated with Alzheimer’s Society by hosting a number of gardening sessions during which people living with dementia and family members have planted hanging baskets and herb gardens. These events have proved to be very popular with both Alzheimer’s Society and attendees.
The company’s fundraising efforts helped inspire the recent School Triathlon held at Rhyl’s Marine Lake. Steve, John and Rob dressed up and visited the event to offer support and encouragement. Steve commented, “It was wonderful to see so many young people actively engaging in sporting activities and fundraising for good causes. The atmosphere on the day was fantastic and we were delighted to support such a great event.”
