6th Of February by Sam Torr
We are delighted to announce that our fundraising efforts this year will be donated to Cancer Research UK. We are dedicated to supporting a chosen charity each year, having supported charities including Hope House Hospice, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Alzheimers society and Meningitis Now.
Every year we give our employees the opportunity to vote for a charity and this year Cancer Research UK was chosen by many of our staff who along with close friends of P&A have faced the impact of cancer in some way.
World Cancer Day on Saturday 4th February saw the UK come together in a fight against cancer with an #ActOfUnity. We launched our new chosen charity with local Cancer Research UK Representative Louise Aubrey, in collaboration with this day.
We have many events planned for 2017 from marathons to bake offs. The first event will see our Managing Director, Steve Morgan and 23 other members of staff taking on the 26 mile Manchester Marathon on Sunday 2nd April.
Employee fitness and wellbeing is a major focus for us as a company and we are currently supporting our marathon runners with a fitness plan that includes weekly personal training sessions.
Louise Aubrey, Cancer Research UK’s Senior Local Fundraising Manager said: “We are absolutely delighted that P&A has decided to attempt such a great challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK”
Louise added: “Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
Managing Director, Steve Morgan said:
“There are so many people in our society that are living or are effected in some way by this disease and everyone within our company feels privileged to be able to help this charity in the fight against cancer. I hope our efforts at the Manchester Marathon encourage others to get involved by donating or raising funds for Cancer Research UK, enabling it to continue investing in its vital research, treatment and support that effects so many.”
