P&A employees are gearing up for the London Marathon with a half marathon, to kick off a year of fundraising.

Staff from the P&A Group of Companies are getting set for the Anglesey Half Marathon following the recent announcement that the company will be supporting Action For Children as its chosen charity for 2018.

The event, in preparation for the London Marathon, takes places this Sunday and will see five employees take on the course to raise vital funds for the charity which helps children who need it the most.

Managing director Steve Morgan, finance director Andrew Baker and manager John Vaughan will use the event as the perfect opportunity to raise fitness levels ahead of the iconic event in London in April.

Speaking of the Half Marathon, Steve said: “The Anglesey half is a great opportunity not only for myself in preparation for the London Marathon, but also for other employees to get involved and kick start our fundraising for Action for Children.

“There are so many children in the UK that need help and support and I know the work that Action For Children does makes a real and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of children across the UK and particularly in Mold and Flintshire.”

As a company, P&A has always raised money for charity and in the last five years it has specifically chosen one each year to support. Past charity fundraising efforts include various events, from marathons, cycling to Paris, the Welsh 14 Peaks, Iron Men challenges to sponsored football matches and even It’s A Knockout.

The whole company will commit to getting behind the fundraising and work as a team, whether that be through major sporting challenges or smaller events, as every penny counts.

As a company, P&A takes employee fitness and wellbeing very seriously and provides twice weekly training sessions for staff to take advantage of.

This year, there are plans for 50 to run in the Flintshire 10k challenge dressed as pandas following the success of 2017 where 45 completed. Other planned events for 2018 include marathons, triathlons, 10k road races and more.
