P&A Group won Best Business to Work For and Flintshire Business Person of the Year at the Flintshire Business Week Awards.
At the Business Week Awards ceremony at Soughton Hall near Mold, Steve Morgan Managing Director was delighted to be presented with The Best Company to Work For Award which recognises P&A for being a responsible business and the steps taken to ensure their commitment to their employees. The Business Person of the Year Award recognises Steve Morgan for the strategic development of the company and the support given to the local community.’
Steve Morgan MD said “It is great news that we have won the FBW 2015 Best Business To Work For and Flintshire Business Person Of the Year Award. We really want to build on what we’ve already achieved as a small business with a family-feel and we intend to continue with our commitment to growth as a responsible business.”
The Best Business to Work for was sponsored by B2 Business Systems who have previously won Flintshire Business Awards including the Innovation Award.
P&A Group’s mission is to operate as an employer, supplier and customer of choice as well as well as “positively contributing to the community in which we operate”. This has meant an active approach to employee development with a variety of initiatives including Lean NVQ training being rolled out across the company, a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Glyndwr University establishing improved systems, and key skills for use in the business and even weekly English lessons for those with English being their second language.
P&A have an annual get together and include a length of service celebrations for 5,10,15 20 25+ years’ service appreciating the loyalty of the staff.
As the 2015 Business Person of the Year, Steve Morgan has a holistic approach to business operating responsibly with regard to the environment and the community and all aspects of business. P&A are committed to recycling and have installed a wood chipper for timber waste and 4 biomass boilers at their site in Mold as well as Solar panels. Steve is a keen athlete and IronMan supporting Alzheimer’s Society and local charities and is a mentor for Alison Hill CEO of Caia Park Partnership Wrexham, supporting them in the development of their social enterprises.
P&A group of companies is an established family run business celebrating 30 years. It has a long standing timber heritage, manufacturing pallets, packaging and packing cases for a wide range of industries, as well as wooden garden furniture and fencing for wholesaling to Garden Centres nationally under the brand name of Zest 4 Leisure. The retail Garden Centre on Wrexham Rd. Mold was first set up to provide a retail outlet for manufactured products and now is a destination Garden Centre, Gift shop with the Woodworks Café being a recent addition serving locally sourced, home-made food.
