OVER 20 employees from the Mold based P&A Group completed Chester Marathon 2017 in aid of Cancer Research UK.

As part of their fundraising challenge for their chosen charity for 2017, Cancer Research, 23 P&A employees took on the Chester Marathon on October 8th.

Against all odds, employees across the company from the Garden Centre, Zest 4 Leisure, Fencing & Timber Buildings as well as the P&A Pallet manufacturing division went the extra mile and committed themselves to completing this truly tough challenge.

The company supplied training sessions four times a week in their warehouse in Mold in the lead up to the Marathon, with all staff committing to working as a team to support each other.

Steve Morgan, managing director at P&A, said: “What a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the Chester Marathon, there was a real sense of teamwork and commitment.

“You should all be so proud of yourselves. A marathon is not easy and it definitely was a challenge, but what I can say is that it is a truly life changing experience and all who took part will never forget this fantastic achievement.”

The Group has already raised over £14,000 for Cancer Research since they began fundraising in February and are hoping their continued efforts will help them in achieving their target of £20,000 by the end of the year.

As well as marathons, fundraising events this year have included triathlons, cycling events, a 10,000 step challenge and a charity golf day.

Steve, along with manager John Vaughan are also in the process of completing a 1,000 mile challenge for the charity, with their latest event being the grueling 140 mile Ironman Wales in September, which they both completed.

Steve wanted to thank everyone who contributed towards the marathon success.

“Once again I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far, and to have already raised over £14,000 is just fantastic.

“This has all been made possible by the kind generosity from our customers, our suppliers and friends of P&A. Without their support this wouldn’t have been possible,” he added.

As a growing company P&A is committed to employee fitness and long-term well-being as well as supporting the community and raising money for charity.

The company provided support for their marathon runners with a fitness plan and in addition covered entry fees, the transport, the nutritional advice, the T-shirts and running kit.

Andrew Baker, Financial Director at P&A said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported us in the lead up and on the day of the marathon, seeing our supporters on the sidelines with their flags really gave us all a massive boost.

“It was a very tough event to say the least, but we all worked as a team and everyone who was involved in the marathon should be very proud of what they have achieved.”

Continuing to take part in events is very important for the company following the success of previous years when as a group they raised over £15,000.00 for The Alzheimer’s Society and over £6,000 last year for Meningitis Now, in memory of one of their own.
