Customer Service Assistant

    The Woodworks Garden Centre & Café have an exciting opportunity for a part time Customer Service Assistant to join the team working during weekends only.

We are looking for individuals who enjoy engaging with customers to provide a fantastic customer experience and promote our reputation as a destination of choice.

    What will I be doing?

    • Weekend role
    • Saturday between 9am – 5pm
    • Sunday between 10am – 4pm
    • Zero hours

    In this role you will be the first face our customers see and provide them with efficient and effective service to maximise sales and increase revenue by operating the tills, answering any queries and assisting customers on our yard.

    You will learn lots of information about our products, which include giftware, furniture and plants. You will also be involved in creating well-presented retail displays, so a flare for creativity and an eye for detail will be useful.

    Please note – this role will involve some heavy lifting (flat packed timber furniture and fence panels). Manual handling training will be given but the successful applicant must be physically capable of heavy manual work.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide effective and efficient sales and customer service across all retail areas as required to meet the demands of the business and according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S).
    • Ensure that you are knowledgeable about the full product range including plants, landscaping, furniture, giftware and seasonal offers to provide optimum service to our customers and maximize sales.
    • Proactively ensure that all areas within your scope of responsibility are fully stocked notifying your supervisor of shortages and requests to meet customers need in a timely manner.
    • Cooperate with team members to create attractive and well-presented retail displays and actively contribute to ensuring housekeeping is maintained to a high standard.
    • Meet, greet and assist customers courteously and promptly in accordance with current SOP’s.
    • Accurately and efficiently process sales through the till system ensuring correct payments are received and that end of day processes are followed effectively.
    • Ensure customers are satisfied and handle queries or complaints promptly and with respect, referring to your supervisor for assistance when necessary in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedure.
    • Be alert to the potential risk of theft or non-payment of goods and raise any concerns with your supervisor.
    • Be prepared to support with back of house and administration activities including telephone enquiries, assist with deliveries and preparation for and attendance at trade shows and exhibitions if required.
