The business prospered for over a hundred years but in 1949 the sole adult male member of the family, the fourth George Morgan died. His untimely death led to the collapse in the Scottish timber company.
It was some 18 years later that George’s eldest son, Malcolm, now grown up, moved to Wales to find work. His job was marketing the timber from Flintshire Woodlands, a small co-operative of woodland-owners based in Mold. A few years later, he was asked to join a small sawmill and pallet-maker, Palliser and Ashgrove.
In the mid 1980’s, Malcolm was able to buy Palliser and Ashgrove. He shortened the name, and the P&A Group is now owned and run by the family. It has evolved into a modern, successful, market sensitive company. But we have never forgotten our family values and skills.
