The P&A Group of Companies has won the “Wales Enterprise Growth Award supported by Menter Iontach Nua” at this year’s Wales Responsible Business Awards for its outstanding commitment to responsible business practise.

The P&A Group received the prestigious accolade at the Wales Responsible Business Awards 2014, which are run by the charity Business in the Community. The Wales Responsible Business Awards are part of the UK’s longest-running and most respected awards scheme, and recognise businesses that achieve commercial success whilst making a positive difference in the community.

The P&A Group Of Companies not only achieved BITC’s Big Tick Award but was also named the overall Category Winner for Wales in the Wales Enterprise Growth Award category, which aims to recognise companies that engage, support and do business with SMEs and Social Enterprises to drive the economy.

Steve Morgan, P&A Group’s Managing Director, was recognised for his work as a long-term mentor of the Caia Park Partnership in Wrexham. This Social Mentoring Programme provided a unique opportunity to support the development and growth of a social enterprise in need of business and leadership support. As the P&A Group and Caia Park Partnership have synergy – both are made up of a number of different divisions – Steve was able to share his own experiences to overcome potential pitfalls and identify new opportunities. With his help, a number of failing micro-enterprises operating within the Caia Park Partnership are now prospering as self-funding and sustainable entities. Having begun with modest expectations, the programme has grown into a thriving partnership, delivering more than initially anticipated. Steve helped revolutionise a number of key divisions, which saw a significant increase in enterprise income of 12%. Steve continues to generously donate his time and his company’s resources to support this essential community enterprise.

The Big Tick is a leading endorsement of responsible business. Companies are awarded for participating in initiatives that tackle a range of issues, from building long-term partnerships in the community and with schools to inspiring young talent and supporting the growth of SMEs and Social Enterprises.

Commenting on his company’s success, Steve Morgan said, “We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised as a responsible business in Wales. Winning the Wales Enterprise Growth Award for our work with Caia Park Partnership makes everything we do in the community worthwhile. We want our company to stand out as an employer of choice within the community and everyone within our organisation who has helped us to achieve the Big Tick should be very proud of our success.”

Rosie Sweetman, Director of Business in the Community  in Wales, said, “All year round, responsible businesses across Wales are making a positive difference to the economic, environmental and social challenges we face as a nation, in a way that support their business goals. The Wales Responsible Business Awards are an opportunity to shine a much-deserved spotlight on the work that these companies are doing, day after day, week in and week out. I congratulate Steve and the entire P&A Group team for all their hard work and success in our Awards! I look forward to working with all the companies to grow the responsible business community and demonstrate that business in Wales is a force of good.”
