P&A Group were delighted to welcome Councillor Glenys Diskin Chairman and Councillor Derek Butler Cabinet Member for a site tour of P&A. The visit was planned to congratulate Steve and P&A on Winning the Environment/Green Award at Flintshire Business Week. The councillors were given a tour of P&A production areas, warehouses and offices as well as enjoying a buffet lunch provided by the P&A Woodworks Café.

P&A won The Environment/Green Award for its commitment to operating as an environmentally responsible company. The award recognises the company’s efforts in implementing a number of environmental policies such as 0% timber waste policy, and investing in the installation of four massive 30 kW Solar panel systems on the warehouse roofs, and three 99kW biomass boilers at its timber production and warehousing site in Mold.

This latest success comes as the P&A Group launches its new woodchip division, which produces and supplies recycled woodchip as biomass fuel to both regional and national businesses. Biomass fuel is becoming more popular, as it helps to reduce the amount of emissions that would usually be produced by the burning of traditional fossil fuels. By entering the biomass market, the P&A Group is assisting the Wales and the UK to achieve its environmental targets for renewable energy. Creating woodchip from recycled timber (waste) enables the company to successfully divert waste from landfill.
