Steve Morgan, managing director of the P&A Group has been awarded the Enhancing Leadership and Management Skills Awards (ELMS).
He was presented with the awards by Deputy Minister for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert and Owen Evans, Director of Skills, Higher Education and Lifelong Learning at the Welsh Government during the Business Skills Conference at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea on the 29th of September.
Steve said: “The training I undertook has had a massive impact on my vision for the business and improved how I manage and lead the organisation. It has allowed me to develop our plan for growth and profitability which can be seen on the bottom line. These awards showcase the value of developing management and leadership skills for growing businesses.”
Deputy Minister for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert, said: “These awards recognise the important work companies undertake in developing their staff and showcase the best examples of this.
The Enhancing Leadership and Management Skills Programme and the National Training Awards are an important part of our efforts to raise the skill levels of the Welsh workforce.
The winners of these awards provide role models for other organisations looking to develop the skills of staff and demonstrate how these skills can help grow their business.”
We are thrilled for Steve and the company for winning such a prestigious award.
Part of our company objective here at P&A is “to operate the business in such a way that contributes to the local community” and “to be the employer of choice”. That’s why we were honoured to receive two awards last week at the prestigious Flintshire Business Week Gala Dinner – The Social & Community Award and The People Development Award.
“It was a satisfying end to a great week” commented our M.D. Steve Morgan on his return from a visit to the House of Commons and the 2012 Olympic site, which was the final event in this year’s Flintshire Business Week calendar. Steve was presented with The Social & Community Award (sponsored by Airbus) by Steve Thomas, Government Affairs Executive, and The People Development Award (sponsored by Careers Wales) was presented by Raymond Lloyd-Jones, Business Manager for Careers Wales North East.
The awards ceremony was the closing event of Flintshire Business Week, which involved Flintshire companies hosting business events and seminars. P&A opened its doors on Tuesday 12th October for “Lean Manufacture and the SME” where visitors were given a short presentation on lean manufacture techniques, a guided tour of the timber yard and a networking lunch.
At P&A we are committed to holding free community events, supporting other local shows and fetes, and raising money for charity. We are thrilled that our efforts have been recognised.
Congratulations to our Managing Director Steve Morgan for completing the 280 mile Pedal to Paris bikeride last month, and raising some much needed cash for the Poppy Appeal. Not being one to take it easy, Steve was back in his lycra two weeks later for the BUPA Great North Run on September 18th, along with his wife Nia Morgan and 54,000 other runners. With your help they managed to exceed their target of raising £800 for Diabetes UK.
But that’s not all! On Novemeber 21st, thirteen members of staff from P&A will be limbering up for the Conwy Half Marathon. This time the money raised will go towards our chosen charity Hope House. They are an incredible charity who care for terminally ill children and offer support for their families. Our goal is to raise £2,500 and any donation you can make would be truly appreciated. The easiest way to donate is by visiting justgiving.com/panda-fencing-and-sheds and paying securely online. You can also make a donation in the Garden Centre shop.
Thank you for your support, and good luck to the P&A team!
This September, P&A’s Managing Director Steve Morgan will be joining 300 other cyclists, including 11 from Flintshire, in the annual Royal British Legion Pedal to Paris bike ride.
Over 4 days Steve will be cycling 280 miles to raise money for the Royal British Legion, which will go towards supporting troops returning from Afghanistan.
